説明

Geometric information obtained from MRI is widely used for various applications, including voxel-based morphometry for brain volume measurement, radiation therapy planning, and MRI-guided radiation therapy.

Sources of geometrical errors in MRI primarily include MRI system-related and scanned object-related inaccuracies. MRI system-related errors include those associated with gradient coil linearity and pulse sequence design issues, whereas scanned object-related errors include those attributable to static magnetic field uniformity and chemical shift. In this review, we discuss the association between sources of errors and geometrical errors and also the geometric distortion measurement method.
