Description

This paper examines microaggressions in the working and learning environment of the Ainu people, using university organizations as an example of microaggressions and their countermeasures. Microaggression in universities occurs not only from faculty members to colleagues and from faculty members to students, but also from students to students and from students to faculty members. Although the process by which students' perceptions are formed is not examined in detail in this paper, it is expected that students' utterances reflect the perceptions of society as a whole, since the content of their words and actions is very similar to those uttered by faculty and staff, and in some cases it is mentioned that they have incorporated the perceptions of society, including parents and faculty. By educating university constituents about the types of microaggressions, how they occur, their effects, and effective interventions when they occur in front of their eyes, it is expected that prevention and postemergent responses will be possible.
