Abstract

A 61-year-old man was transferred to our emergency department by ambulance because of low blood pressure due to drug overdose. He had mainly taken up to 280 mg of amlodipine besilate orally. We began continuous administration of noradrenaline for the low blood pressure, but there was little improvement. So, we next tried administering calcium chloride hydrate, which was effective for hemodynamic stabilization. The patient was discharged on day 12. We suggest that continuous infusion of calcium salt should be considered for patients with intractable hypotension following calciumantagonist overdose.
