Abstract

Region is one of the identity concepts in both geography and geography education. Therefore, it is essential for geography education to give back to the theories about regions that geography, especially regional geography, has developed so far, but the position of regional perspectives in geography education is not easy because of the complexity of the theories. The purpose of this study is to design how to position regional perspectives in secondary geography education, based on a review of theoretical trends in Anglophone regional geography. Specifically, we present the regional perspectives required in the three stages of geographical field of junior high school social studies, the compulsory high school subject "Geography", and the high school elective subject "Advanced Geography", based on the framework of classroom practice. Furthermore, it discusses the prospects for consistency in geography education at the secondary school level and, by extension, for "A study of K-12 geography education curriculum," with a view toward the near future society.
