Description

In this study, the factors affecting the dynamic response and fracture behavior of pretensioned PC beams such as shear reinforcement ratio, tension force, rebar corrosion, and loading type were investigated by conducting drop-weight impact tests. As a result, the effects of introduced tension force and shear reinforcement ratio on the impact response of beams were clarified. Notably, it was found that the failure behavior of specimens with small shear reinforcement ratio shifted from bending failure to shear failure under the conditions of low introduced tension and corrosion of the tensile main rebar. In addition, even in the case of specimens with a large shear reinforcement ratio that reached final failure in bending under a single impact loading, shear failure may occur under repeated minor impact loading.
