Abstract
<p>As to a crack propagation analysis method proposed in JSSC Fatigue Design Recommendations for Steel Structures, there have not been many comparative studies on its applicability to crack behavior in out-of-plane gusset joints. In this paper, beach mark test results for 29 cracks obtained by fatigue tests of full -scale out-of-plane gusset joint specimens were compared with the calculated results by the JSSC method, and the stress intensity factor, K-values, were also compared between the calculated results and the finite element analysis results obtained by crack models. Estimation accuracy by the JSSC method was discussed regarding the crack depth, the growth rate of semi-elliptical cracks, and the K-values.</p>
