Abstract

Practice Reports

This paper reports on the educational practice of class “Introduction to GIS,” which started in FY2022 for learners who do not major in geography. This class provides learning opportunities for students in a wide range of majors who are interested in Geographic Information System (GIS) and feel the need to convert their research results into map image data when writing their graduation thesis, etc. This class is therefore positioned as one of advanced liberal arts classes for upper-year undergraduate students in Osaka University. GIS utilization skills are regarded as one of the information literacy skills, which is the distinctive feature of this class.
