Of them, 200(34.3%)forms were collected; 194(97.0%)included valid responses. 172 without missing value forms were analyzed. Males were 38.4%; 61.6% were females. Their age was 15.2±1.9 years. Survey contents included the following items: HbA1c, self-management behaviors of diabetes, feelings and attitudes related to type 1 diabetes, and persons supporting type 1 diabetes.

Results

1)Adolescence who thought “The injection and the blood sugar were measured” to be “Necessity” and “It is reluctant” was occupying half the number. There were a lot of “Classroom” and “Health room” as “Place of the injection and the adding diet”. There was “Rest room” in no small way, too.

2)Results of Confirmatory factor analyses/structural equation modeling show that respondents’ feelings about type 1 diabetes were “positive feelings”, “negative feelings”, and “anxieties”. Persons supporting type 1 diabetes were “emotional supporters” and “professional supporters”.

3)We conducted multiple regression analyses using “I live a fulfilling school life by controlling diabetes(school life)” as a dependent variable, with five subscales obtained in 1), “HbA1c value”, “Duration of the disorder”, “old”, “sex” as independent values. Influential factors on “school life” were “negative feelings”(β=-.24, p<.001), “positive feelings”(β=.25, p<.001), “emotional supporters”(β=.24, p<.01), and “HbA1c value”(β=-.24, p<0.001)(R2=.45, p<.001).

Conclusions

1)To fulfill their school life, the necessity of the teacher’s understanding and environmental considerations of the school was suggested.

2)Results indicate that emotional acceptance of type 1 diabetes and supportive persons around them are necessary for adolescence with type 1 diabetes to conduct school life while performing self-management behaviors.
