<p>The traffic volume varies by time of a day. For example, traffic volume of an expressway between cities has two typical peaks for the morning rush hour and evening rush hour. The fluctuation of drivers can be analyzed by estimating a probability density function from traffic volume data that is easy to observe. In this case, it is necessary to process the periodic data such as traffic volume in a day by applying directional statistics. In this study, we estimate the parameter for the mixture of circular distribution, which is the probability density function for angular data. Finally, the two peaks of morning rush peak and evening rush peak are divided. It is clarified that the earlier peak is sharp and left skewed peak, and the latter peak is gentle peak for both passing and driving lanes.</p>
