Abstract

“GankakeTyohouki” was published in 1816. It contains information about Osaka in the Edo period, especially about the blessings of the gods and buddhas. In that book, there is information about what the gods and buddhas are good for, how to pray, and how to give thanks. In this paper, I thought about how these articles were written. There are 69 articles in total, and I focused on 7 articles on Jizo. I compared it with guidebooks, topographies, and books about miracles in Edo period. The jizo registered in the book were not necessarily famous, but they were popular and were worshiped by many people. The style of “GankakeTyohouki” is different from books about miracles. However, this book is an important material for thinking about how stories turn into information.
