Abstract
Turbulence is often the cause of aircraft accidents. There are two kinds of contrastive turbulence: visible turbulence (turbulence in cumulo-clouds) and invisible turbulence (Clear Air Turbulence). Two typical accidents caused by the above two types of turbulence are introduced. The seat belt is the sole and last means to save passengers from injury or death even in severe turbulence. Lacking the recognition of the risks of not wearing a seat belt, some passengers do not take responsibility for their own safety. On the other hand, airline companies are reluctant to disclose to passengers that there are dangerous natural phenomena that are both unavoidable and beyond control. To prevent accidents, the total cooperation of all interests concerned is imperative: the Government, society (esp. mass media), airline companies, tourism industry (esp. travel agencies), tourists, and also educational institutions of tourism.
