Description
Since around 2022, the cost of energy has jumped significantly, affecting both industry and household expenditures. To stop energy cost inflation, the government has paid subsidies for energy such as kerosene and gasoline. In this paper, we analyze the effect of energy cost inflation on industry and household expenditures. As a result of the analysis, the following became clear. Energy cost inflation has a major influence on the oil industry, the coal industry, and the energy industry. As for households, the burden is higher for low-income households, those living in colder regions, and those living in regions with little public transportation. Subsidies for kerosene and gasoline have a significant impact on households that are heavily burdened by rising energy costs. However, the subsidies do not eliminate the disparity in the burden of energy cost inflation between income classes and regions.
