Polarization Converters Composed of Metasurfaces with Independent Manipulation of Polarization and Phase

Phase and polarization are two important parameters of the light field. The simultaneous regulation of phase and polarization has significant application prospects in optical processing and the generation of vector light fields. This article proposes a set of quarter-wave plates that can achieve continuous phase modulation of 0-1.86π while adjusting the polarization direction when the incident light wavelength is 1550nm. Based on the aforementioned quarter-wave plate group, two polarization converters were designed. Theoretical results show that these two polarization converters can convert circularly polarized light into radially polarized beam and azimuthally polarized beam, respectively. This quarter-wave plate group has unique advantages in the multi-dimensional regulation of the light field, with higher degrees of freedom of the light field regulation.
