Abstract

This study focused on the difference in site planning and building layout depending on the direction in planned rural settlements. On sites facing south, the setback houses and open spaces are located along the road, while on sites facing north, large barns are built close to the road boundary. On both sites facing east and west, there are houses and open spaces along the road. These tendencies of building layout make a difference in roadside building and elements between east-west roads and north-south roads; therefore, road direction setting is an important planning perspective in rural settlements.
