Abstract

Maps, drawings, and models are used as media to enhance communication and enrich the content of spatial planning workshops for citizens. I report on a workshop methodology in which these media are created using digital information and combined with physical media using Mixed Reality (MR) technology. Authors developed three MR applications and ten workshop programs for the study process of a basic concept for the utilization of a former sewage treatment plant site in Tokyo. The main issue in the development was how to combine digital and physical media. How information was conveyed and communication was activated through these workshops will be discussed based on the evaluation of a questionnaire survey of the participants.
