Abstract

System management in which the quality of talent identification and development programs in Japan is guaranteed has not been established. In this study, tall height is taken to be a necessary condition for success in sports and the management of this scouting system was explored based on the scientific evidence of tracking tall height and motor ability. The method used motor ability data on boys and girls from the second to the fifth grades of elementary school who participated in a talent discovery program in one prefecture, and an evaluation chart of motor ability due to changes with age was constructed using the wavelet interpolation model. Individuals with high motor ability were identified from this evaluation chart, and those among them who were tall were selected. As a result, it was possible to discover individuals who possessed tall height and high motor ability, which may bring us closer to the establishment of a talent scouting system management based on scientific evidence.
