Abstract

This paper reports an educational practice of product design with a design-based-research approach to expand and deepen student’s observation process for leading novel ideas using the perspective of cognitive psychology. We hypothesized the five design principles about instructional techniques in order to improve student’s observation protocol based on their perception and cognition by making aware of their cognitive process and representation. We discussed the effectiveness and future issues based on the qualitative and quantitative results of our education practice.
