抄録

This study elucidated a new remote sports coaching environment for para–athletes using a video conferencing system in ICT devices in combination with a tripod that enables automatic athlete tracking. Using the aforementioned strategy‚ a Tokyo–based para–sport coach provides skill coaching to a para–athlete with mild intellectual disability; the athlete is a shot putter in athletics and lives in a depopulated area of Hiroshima Prefecture‚ Japan. In this case‚ the distance between the coach and the athlete was approximately 700 km. Furthermore‚ this study identified this athlete’s disability as an individual cognitive difficulty with memory retention of what was learned in skill training. To address this issue‚ this study used an online “electronic diary” for taking rapid notes on what was learned during skill training. After four months‚ his skills had improved‚ and his personal best had increased from 11m57cm to 12m41cm. Furthermore‚ because this remote coaching was conducted at a cheaper cost than prior research and the ICT devices were simple for the athletes‚ this study supports its applicability to athletes with mild intellectual disabilities.
