Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of “The Japanese version of the Teacher Efficacy Scale,” which was originally developed for general school teachers, when applied for clinical educators, with the aim of obtaining basic information for understanding the teacher’s effectiveness of clinical educators. Participants and Methods: A questionnaire survey of 30 items on “The Japanese version of the Teacher Efficacy Scale” was conducted with 343 clinical educators. Results: Four factors, “Expectations of Teaching Efficacy,” “Confidence in Understanding Students,” “Expectations of Improving Teaching Skills,” and “Influences Other Than Teaching” 13 items (this scale) were extracted as a scale to measure CE’s teacher efficacy. Conclusion: It is suggested, by the results which 17 out of 30 question items were eliminated through exploratory factor analysis, that there is a problem with the reliability and validity of the scale measuring the teacher’s effectiveness of clinical educators.
