Abstract

<p> In the sewerage field, the biomass utilization of sewage sludge with high potential has attracted attention. Fertilizer costs have increased in recent years, and the use of composted sewage sludge has been considered. Although various reports on the use of composted sewage sludge returned to farmland, the mixing ratio and new applications of composted sewage sludge have not been investigated extensively. In this study, Komatsuna, a Japanese mustard spinach, was used as a test crop. The mixing ratio and usefulness of bamboo materials on soil improvement with Komatsuna were investigated. The growth conditions and ATP tests for soil microbial activities were examined. The results showed that bamboo chips increased the amount of microbes and fertilized the soil through nitrogen assimilation, indicating the usefulness of bamboo chips as a soil</p><p>improvement material. In particular, 5% compost, 65% field soil, and 30% bamboo chips was the best mixing ratio in this study.</p><p>Keywords: sewage sludge, compost, soil improvement material, bamboo materials, ATP tests</p>
