Abstract

This paper revisits the concept of "control through a constellation of interests" advocated and debated in Japan in the 1980s, and examines its contemporary significance. In order to promote business innovation and create new businesses, it is beneficial to form a "constellation" made up of small and medium companies, organizations, and individuals. An observer. a discoverer, a coordinator or a producer of the constellation has the "strength of weak ties" and its institutional and legal basis may be equivalent to "limited liability partnership (LLP)" in Japan. Theoretical and empirical studies of constellations need to be studied more in future.
