<p>  In previous papers, axial-flux switched reluctance motors (AFSRMs) for compact electric vehicles (EVs) were prototyped, and EV driving tests were successfully conducted. However, it was clear that the conventional control method, called instantaneous phase torque distribution control (IPTDC), has a narrow torque-speed range. This paper presents an improved control method that can expand the torque-speed range, especially in high-speed regions. Moreover, it proposes an average torque control method that can maintain a large torque for even higher speed regions.</p>
