Description
The word sakkuri which denotes "workwear" originates from sakiori "rip weaving." While changes in words are typically examined based on their distribution patterns, we examined those of referents using the same method. In addition to sakkuri, words cuzure and boro are also examined. Typical rip weaving utilizes ripped cotton cloth as crosswise yarn (weft), but these words are also used for material whose weft is made of fiber from traditional plant. The referents are examined from the viewpoint of "various forms of rip weaving" to explain the changes in referents.
