This study aimed to explore university students’ perceptions of the advantages and disadvantages of three types of classes: on-demand, online live, and in-person. In Study 1, 68 students provided open-ended responses. The results showed that students valued the flexibility of on-demand classes and the ability to focus better in in-person classes, while they noted self-management challenges in online classes. Study 2 involved 435 students and examined the relationship between course selection reasons and satisfaction with each type of class. The findings revealed a positive correlation between the ease of credit acquisition and satisfaction with online classes. These results suggested that students’ preferences for different class formats were influenced by multiple factors, including convenience and the ability to interact directly with instructors. The study highlighted the importance of considering diverse learning preferences in designing educational programs, especially in a post-pandemic context where both online and in-person learning environments coexisted.
