Description
Three species of Montipora corals are reported from Amitori Bay, Iriomote-jima Island, southern Ryukyu Islands, Japan. Two species, Montipora crassifolia Bernard, 1897 and M. palawanensis Veron, 2000 are recorded from Japanese waters for the first time. The other species, M. edwardsi Bernard, 1897, which has been reported under a different name from Japan, is reidentified in this study.
