Description

The authors held the exhibition “the People in Yayoi Period – The Physical Anthropological studies in Kyushu University” at the Kyushu University Museum in 2024. During the exhibition, we organized “Letʼs Scan Bones with a 3D Scanner!” The purpose of this event was to improve understanding of the characteristics of human skeletal remains from Yayoi period through the generation and practice of 3D data, which is now familiar to participants. The event designed to allow participants to experience the characteristics of human skeletal remains through a full-scale scanning experience using the 3D scanner used in the museum, a simplified scanning experience using a smartphone application and explanations of the exhibition by an expert. This report provides overviews of the event and the findings from the experience.
