盛岡市遺跡の学び館所蔵川目Ａ遺跡・沢田遺跡出土の磨製石斧を整理した結果、盛岡市史など過去の紹介において「蛇紋岩製」とされてきた磨製石斧、特に小型磨製石斧の多くが化学分析の結果、微細な緑閃石が集合した「ネフライト」を利用した製品であることが明らかにされた。
