Description

<p>It is well known that the probability of traffic accidents occurring increases in adverse weather. While weather and road surface conditions are recorded in Japanese national traffic accident database, such data are insufficient to analyze the relationship between weather and traffic accidents. At present, diverse sets of big data related to traffic accidents are being compiled, and various types of data, including data regarding weather, are analyzed in conjunction with traffic accident data, then the results are utilized for traffic safety measures during adverse weather. To improve traffic safety, further compilation, linking, and integration of big data are required, and effective utilization of such data can be expected to improve measures to reduce adverse weather effects on road safety.</p>
