Abstract

Motion compensation by projective transforms is optimal to represent the deformation of planar rigid objects in normal videos and arbitrary-shaped objects taken by fixed pan-tilt-zoom cameras. Conventionally, four motion vectors (eight parameters) are used to represent a projective transform. However, only six parameters are essentially needed to represent 3-dimensional camera position and angle change. This paper proposes to encode video using projective transforms derived from only six parameters (three motion vectors).
