Abstract

<p>Advanced technologies are needed to control pollutants such as dioxins in gas or water present in extremely low concentrations. The present paper reviews typical basic studies, developments of control technologies, and examples of industrial applications of electron beam technology having the features of oxidation, decomposition and detoxification of pollutants even those present in low concentrations. It covers removal of SOx and NOx from coal-combustion flue gases, decomposition of gaseous volatile organic compound in off gas and dioxins in gas emitted through the incinerator flue, purification of tap and wastewaters, and treatment of sewage/sludge.</p>
