Abstract

<p> This special session was intended to introduce the latest ICT in the maintenance of coastal structures and to widely discuss the expectations and issues regarding application of the ICT in construction and maintenance of coastal infrastructures. Through three presentations of research papers, two presentations related to the topics and the panel discussion regarding the applications of ICT, it was confirmed that the new technologies were effective to solve the technical problems of construction and maintenance of infrastructure. However, it was also confirmed that it would be necessary to improve the procurement system and to propose the evaluation method of benefit by introducing the ICT.</p>
