Abstract

This study aims to develop a construction method for reducing structure borne noise in low frequency noise regions that is generated from an elevated bridge. In a previous study, a construction method for using an additional vibrating body that emits anti-phase sound waves of the structure noise using a mechanical method was studied. Herein, a construction method where a phase inversion unit is substituted with a resonance phenomenon is studied. Consequently, this construction method can reduce the emitted sound by ≥10dB. The proposed construction method uses a novel reduction mechanism that emits anti-phase sound waves instead of the widely used sound absorption mechanism using a resonance phenomenon.
