Abstract
<p>In order to realize organic memory devices using isomerization reactions of photochromic molecules, it is necessary to overcome several technical challenges: fabrication of homogeneous molecular films on solid substracts, and good control of the isomerization reactions. We report scanning probe microscopy studies of structures of 1) absorbed diarylethene molecular in the (111) surfaces of noble metals obtained by vacuum evaporation, and 2) molecular films fabricated at the air-liquid interfaces followed by transferring them to solid substrates.</p>
