Description
To find the way to apply a compressed Japanese Cedar with Elasticity to a seat surface of a chair. We produced specimens made of plain weave of thinly sliced pieces of the material and made seat surface from it. For each test piece, we conducted tension test, three-point bending test and deflection measurement against a load. As for the specimen combined with Oak sliced veneer. there wes improvemeat in the tensile strength and the modulus of rupture. It was also observed that tha deflection against a load was rathen small and the pressure dispersed evenly. In this way, it was shown that the specimen which was combined with Oak sliced veneer was applicable to a seat surface, as it could steadily support a human body.
