Abstract
We carried out two examination on intrarater reproducibility of measurement for isometric knee extension strength by hand-held dynamometer (HHD) using the belt for the fixation. Objects are healthy subjects and pulmonary disease patients. The intraclass correlation coefficient under HHD using the belt for the fixation was 0.990. In the leg of the muscle strength over 40kg, the muscle strength value took the fixed value regardless of the size of the knee extension muscle strength, when the belt for the fixation was not used. The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.402 in this case. Reversely, the intraclass correlation coefficient in the leg of muscle strength of 30kg or less was 0.993. It was the level which was equivalent to the reproducibility under using the belt for the fixation. It was shown that present isometric knee extension sthenometry method had the excellent intrarater reproducibility. It was indicated that the reliability of the measured value was poor, when the belt for the fixation was not used.
