Description

The purpose of this study was to clarify the reliability of pulmonary compliance determination under artificial respiration conditions. The subjects of study were 19 respiratory failure patients undergoing artificial respiration.Dynamic (Cdyn) and static (Csta) pulmonary compliance were determined with an artificial respirator. Two staff members performed the measurements on each patient, and intra-and inter-staff reliability was investigated. As a result,intra-class correlation coefficient for both intra-and inter-staff reliability exceeded 0.9,indicating favorable reliability.Accordingly,we believe that because intra-and inter-staff reliability was satisfactory, pulmonary compliance determination in patients undergoing artificial respiration is a clinically viable method.
