Description
<p>The authors have previously proposed a load transfer index U* (Ustar) and developed a structure optimization method based on three conditions of U* for desirable structures. In the present study, as a fourth condition, we required clarification or intensification of load paths in order to realize a sufficiently large load transfer in structure optimization. We introduced the concept of the U* entropy, similar to the information entropy. The intensification of load paths is expressed by the inverse process of the U* entropy increase law. It seems to virtualize the life phenomenon of structures that occurs in optimization. We applied the fourth condition of the U* entropy reduction to structural optimization calculation of simple spring models and showed the effectiveness of the introduction of the new condition.</p>
