Description

Two 14-year-old girls attempted suicide through alternate helium gas inhalation. They planned their suicide using helium gas two months in advance, and purchased helium used as a lifting gas through internet mail order. No damage was reported because they could not inhale it in a closed environment. Helium used as a lifting gas contains no oxygen ; hence we die of suffocation from helium gas inhalation. We can get information on the internet about helium gas. As in this case, helium gas can be purchased by anybody without personal identification through shopping websites. This dangerous situation requires urgent preventive measures.
