Description
In general, when the catalyst pellets that has adsorbed gas molecules is heated or is applied with nonthermal plasma (NTP), the gas is desorbed. It has not been well discussed yet whether NTP-induced desorption has non-heating effects. In this study, the characteristics of desorption were compared between simple heating and NTP, using Mn-Cu mixed oxide that adsorbed NO2. Temperature programmed desorption (TPD) was conducted for the samples that experienced following three operations: (a) adsorption followed by NTP-treatment (b) adsorption followed by thermal desorption, and (c) only adsorption. Comparison among a, b, and c suggested that NTP could desorb adsorbed species that had broader range of desorption temperature. It was assumed that NTP-induced desorption was partially due to diffusion of excited species from inter-pellet space into micro pores.
