Abstract

This study was performed in order to examine the partical use of lower concentrations of GA_3(12.5ppm) with ethychlozate in order to reduce berry shattering and the hardening of the fruit stalks of seedless 'Kyoho' grapes upon the first treatment of GA_3. The size and quality of the seedless berries that were treated with ethychlozate(5 or 10ppm) + GA_3 improved, However, the 50ppm ethychlozate + GA_3 treatment thinned the berries significantly and the sugar content of the juice and the anthocyanin content of the berry skins was reduced. The diameter and the hardness of fruit stalks of the clusters that were treated with 5 or 10ppm ethychlozate + GA_3 were reduced, and the berry shattering of those clusters was moderate.
