Abstract
In an air path control system, a good transient response is required and a feedforward controller plays an important role to improve the transient response. In this paper, a nonlinear feedforward controller taking account of the response delay of the turbocharger is designed based on the obtained model. The exhaust manifold temperature is estimated by using a discrete combustion model to improve the control performance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated by conducting a reference tracking experiment under transient mode operation using a real diesel engine.
