Abstract

In order to practice a team approach to healthcare (interdisciplinary health care), it is essential to increase opportunities for students to get in touch with other medical students through case conferences and so on and learn together. Interprofessional Education (IPE) refers to occasions where healthcare professionals from different kinds of occupation can learn the roles, specialties, and responsibilities. Each one of them demonstrates a team-based care to their full potential to achieve patient-centered healthcare by collaborating on an equal basis. IPE is practiced in medical and nursing education, but there are a few universities where IPE is practiced in pharmaceutical education from the perspective of graduation. Most of the IPEs is practiced in universities with medical facilities. There are very few practical IPEs through simulated patient participation and collaboration with other faculties and universities in pharmaceutical faculties. This paper introduces our IPE practice, which collaborated with other medical facilities in pharmaceutical universities without medical faculties. We would like to provide references for a strategy to cultivate capabilities through which a interdisciplinary health care can be practiced by collaborating with other kinds of occupation.
