Description

The subject learning the structure and function of the human body (anatomical physiology) is the foundation of medicine (basic medicine) and due to its importance, it is an essential subject for medical professions (para-medical). In recent years, various educational media (such as textbooks and teaching materials) have been developed and there are many things useful for learners’ understanding. Since the content of anatomical physiology is enormous, there are some definitions and technical terms that differ between textbooks. So, many students are not good at it. In particular, “connective tissue”, which is one of the main components of human body, is prominent. Therefore, in this paper, we selected several textbooks of anatomical physiology for general para-medical, and investigated the connective tissue described in the “tissues” chapter. As a result, differences between textbooks were found in many items as far as we could investigate, including the four components of tissue, the detailed organizational terms, their composition and the location in the body. On the other hand, in view of the complexity of the structure of the human body, it is also true that it is nearly impossible to perfectly match definitions and views. Therefore, when dealing with esoteric technical terms such as connective tissues, it is necessary to consolidate the contents described in as many textbooks as possible, to grasp the universality and tendency of the contents of the description, and it is also important to learn through experiments and/or practice to observe biology materials directly.
