Abstract

Technical development and standardization of transmitting video signals with low latency in IP packets are performed. For a packet loss counter-plan to ensure the quality, a low latency FEC (Forward Error Correction) method with erasure code using XOR (the conventional method) has been standardized by SMPTE. We have proposed the new FEC method to improve the burst loss tolerance as twice compared to the conventional method. In this paper, we report about the recovered video signal clock performance comparison results. To recover the video signal stably at the receiver over an asynchronous IP transmission path, a video time stamp value generated from a video signal clock is added to the video packet at the transmitter. At the receiver, the video signal clock is recovered by using its video time stamp value. There are differences of the construction scheme between the conventional method and the proposed method, so that makes performance differences of the recovered video signal clock. As experimental results, we will reveal that video signal clock frequency jitters of the proposed method can be reduced to about 64% compared to that of the conventional method.
