Abstract

Absolute values of net ionization cross sections and partial ionization cross sections in bare ion (charge state q=1–18) impact on simple molecules have been measured at a fixed collision energy of 6 MeV/u. The net cross sections have been found to depend weakly on the projectile charge q compared with the q2-dependence predicted by the first Born approximation, especially for high charge projectiles and/or heavy target elements. For hydrocarbon molecules, a scaling law of net ionization cross sections including collision energy, projectile charge and number of valence electrons has been proposed. Moreover, isomer effect in dissociation and production of negative ions have been studied.
