Abstract

We studied photoinduced dynamics in an organic crystal (EDO-TTF)_2PF_6, which has strong electron-electron and electron-lattice interactions, by applying four types of ultrafast techniques. Using 10fs reflectivity change measurement, we found that a new state emerges over 40fs. The optical conductivity spectrum at 100fs from mid-infrared to visible light revealed this state to be a photoinduced phase which has never seen in thermal equilibrium. The crystal and molecular structural changes over 100ps were studied using picosecond infrared vibrational spectroscopy and femtosecond electron diffraction and it is figured out that molecular deformation is much slower than its translation.
