Abstract
<p> We aim to clarify the phenomena of flood damage caused by ice jam due to unseasonably warm air and rainfall in March 2018. We conducted field survey to trace ice jam on 11 rivers in Hokkaido and analyzed time and place of ice jam occurrences and river channel characteristic. It was confirmed that places with lower velocity has relations with ice jam occurances. We also calculated risk of ice jam occurrence in actual river using “ice jam scale” and could show longitudinal change of ice jam occurance risk.</p>
