Abstract

In the Aral Sea Basin, irrigation and applied crops dynamically change due to drought and salinization. To estimate this dynamical changes in water use, daily difference of surface temperature is used comparing between the satellite analysis by MODIS and land surface analysis without irrigation scheme in Uzbekistan.

As a result, in February, there was no tendency to show the distribution of irrigated land, but the surface heat capacity decreased along the irrigated area in June and August in the irrigation season, and this tendency was strong in August, and a the change was clear in the lower Amudarya Basin. And when irrigated area fraction in mesh was larger, the difference between MODIS and model was larger. However, the difference between dry and wet year was still small, so it is necessary to identify the cause in the future work.
