Travel Time Information on Urban Roadways for Advanced Travelers Information System Using Data from Bluetooth MAC Scanners

<p>Bluetooth MAC scanner (BMS) is the cost effectiveness technology that has potential for area-wide implementation to collect traffic data. Although, the success implementation of this system has been reported in many freeways, the using of BMS on urban roadway is still the main challenge for traffic professionals due to its complicated behaviors and interruptions from surrounding. This paper demonstrates the framework for developing travel time information from BMS system and provides detail analysis of field data from 40 BMSs installed on urban roadway network in Bangkok CBD. Results indicate the potential of using of BMS for traffic data collection on urban roadways and show the advantages of proposed Hampel indentifier in filtering method over the conventional one.</p>
