Abstract

Objective: To examine the state of practical training for smoking cessation support, we conducted a questionnaire survey for pharmacy students.
Methods: The survey was given to 220 pharmacy students who completed the practical training, and their social nicotine dependence was evaluated using the KTSND.
Results: The recovery rate was 95.9% (211/220 students). Thirty-four students underwent practical training based on the revised pharmaceutical education model core curriculum and 165 underwent traditional practical training. Although only a few students in each group had experience with smoking cessation support, many considered it to be necessary. However, students with high social nicotine dependence were more against smoking cessation support than students with low social nicotine dependence.
Conclusions: In the practical training based on the revised pharmaceutical education model core curriculum, smoking cessation support must be performed more often.
